Q Your text
Need at least 80 words for a reliable check. Short texts like "hi how are you doing" are too short to judge.

What is this tool and why I built it

I run a few Website sites and I got tired of pasting my drafts into sites that keep my text. I wanted something I could drop straight into a Website page that does not call any outside service. So I built this. It looks for habits that show up a lot in ChatGPT, GPT-5, Claude, Gemini and other models. It does not try to guess which model wrote it. It just points out parts that read like a model wrote them.

Two public sources drive it. First is the Wikipedia page called Signs of AI writing. Editors there collected real examples of AI text they found while cleaning Wikipedia. Things like saying serves as instead of is, or stands as a testament to, or ending a sentence with highlighting its importance. Second is a 2026 study by Graphite that listed around 13 thousand phrases that appear more in AI than in human writing. For example this matters appears 116 times more in AI, why this matters 92 times more, does not establish 275 times more in GPT-5 outputs, notable works include 120 times more, todays fast paced world 107 times more. When you see those a lot, the odds go up.

On top of that I added two simple stats that paid tools talk about. One is burstiness. Humans do not write every sentence with 20 words. Sometimes I write a short one. Then a longer one with a small story about what happened last week. Then a question? AI tends to keep the same length. The other is predictability. If you use in order to, as well as, it is important to note many times, the text gets too smooth. Real writing has little bumps, like contractions, like dont, cant, or a quick aside in brackets.

I am not saying this tool is perfect. No detector is. It shows probability, not proof. But it helps you see where to edit.

When you should use it

Use it before you hit publish on Website. That is how I use it. I take a first draft from AI, then I rewrite it myself, then I paste it here and look at the colors. If most of it is yellow and orange, I know I still sound like a model.

It also helps when you work with writers. Last month a writer sent me a match report about football. It felt flat. I pasted it here and it showed 85 percent AI in another tool and 68 percent here. The highlights showed lack of personal voice and promotional drama like dream return and landmark moment. I sent it back with notes and the second version was much better.

Do not use it for very short texts. That is why we now ask for at least 80 words. If you paste hi how are you doing, there is nothing to check. Any tool that gives you 30 percent AI on that is just guessing. With 80 words we can measure burstiness, repeated words, and phrase density properly. Most Website posts are 500 to 1500 words, so you will be fine.

You can also run your old posts through it. I did that and found three old posts that had that travel guide tone, like nestled in the heart of and breathtaking views. I fixed them. They read more natural now and I think readers stay longer.

Instructions - how to use it on Website

Step one, copy your article text. Just the plain text, not the HTML. Paste it into the empty box at the top. You will see the word count go up. It allows up to 10000 words, so even long guides fit.

Step two, click Detect AI Patterns. If you have less than 80 words you will see a yellow box that says you need more words. Add a bit more context and try again. If you have more than 10000 words, split it into two parts.

Step three, read the result. At the top you see a big half circle meter. It fills from green to red. Below that you see two numbers, how much looks like AI and how much looks clean. Then you see a yellow box like in your screenshot. It has a small meter on the left, a scale icon, and text like Mostly Human 27 percent AI or Likely AI 78 percent AI. That box also has a short explanation like The text is predominantly human but contains some mixed signals that could be polished for more natural flow.

Step four, scroll to your text. Each sentence has a color. Green is surely human. Light yellow is mixed. Light orange is likely AI. Light red is surely AI. Tap any sentence and you will see why it was flagged. It might say Tier 1 phrase or rule of three list or lack of personal voice and contractions.

Step five, fix it. The list of patterns under the text tells you what showed up most. If it says overuse of moreover furthermore additionally, go delete those. If it says low burstiness, break some long sentences into short ones. Add a question. Add dont or cant. Add I tried this last year and it did not work for me. That kind of line drops the score fast because it is personal and uneven. Then run detection again.

To add this to Website, go to your Website dashboard, then Layout, add gadget, choose HTML JavaScript, paste the whole code from this file, save. No extra files needed. It works on mobile and desktop.

Guidance on reading the score and fixing it

I keep it simple for myself. Under 20 percent, you are good. That means your voice comes through and you have varied sentences. Between 20 and 40, still mostly human, but you might have a few generic lines. Between 40 and 60, it is mixed. I would rewrite the orange parts. Between 60 and 80, likely AI. That is where most raw ChatGPT drafts land after our tuning. Above 80, surely AI. That is where unedited GPT-5 or Claude drafts land.

Do not panic if a human post gets 25 or 30 percent. Some topics naturally use words that models also use. The key is the pattern list. If it only says repetitive keyword usage because you repeated your main keyword many times for SEO, that is not really AI, that is just SEO. If it says Tier 1 phrase and superficial ing ending and low burstiness together, then you should edit.

A common mistake is writing every sentence starting with The. The product is. The feature is. The benefit is. That alone can add 10 to 15 percent. Mix it up. Start one with I, one with When I tested, one with What I liked was.

Another thing is to avoid that formal starter list. Words like Additionally, Furthermore, Moreover, In conclusion at the start of a sentence are strong AI tells. I used to use them too. Now I use Also, Then, So, or just start with the point. It feels more like how we talk.

If your score is high, try three quick fixes I use. First, add contractions like dont, cant, wont, its. Models often avoid them. Second, vary length. Write a 6 word sentence. Then a longer one with a small story. Third, add something only you know. Like I broke this part last month when I tried to install it in my kitchen and had to call my brother. That is personal, specific, and not predictable. Also delete phrases like it is important to note, in order to, in conclusion, and this matters.

Resources we used

We did not invent the patterns. They come from public work that anyone can read.

  • Wikipedia Signs of AI writing page. It is maintained by editors who clean AI content. It has sections on promotional tone, is are avoidance, vague attributions, rule of three, negative parallelisms like not only but also.
  • Graphite AI Tells Study 2026. They counted 13 thousand phrases and gave multipliers like this matters 116 times more, does not establish 275 times more. We use that list for Tier 1 detection.
  • GPTZero and Originality research blogs that explain perplexity and burstiness in plain terms. Perplexity is how predictable the next word is. Burstiness is how much sentence length varies. We coded simple versions of both that run offline.
  • Claude slop detector lists and other open anti AI writing lists on GitHub that collect phrases like game changing, cutting edge, unlock your potential, comprehensive guide.

If you want to learn more, open the Wikipedia page and read the examples. It helps you spot AI writing with your own eyes, not just with a tool.

FAQ

Is this 100 percent accurate? No. No detector is. This is a helper, not a judge. It shows probability based on patterns. A human can write like a model and a model can be edited to sound human. Use your own reading as final call. We say this in every version.

Why do you need 80 words minimum? Short texts do not have enough signal. If you paste hi how are you doing, any tool that gives you 30 percent AI is guessing. That is why we now ask for 80 words. With 80 words we can measure burstiness, repeated words, and phrase density properly. Add a paragraph and try again.

Why did my simple greeting show 30 percent AI before? Older version was too sensitive. We added a check for greetings and very short sentences. Now a 5 word greeting scores near zero, and we block analysis under 80 words. For normal posts over 80 words, the new tuning is balanced. It still catches real AI drafts but does not flag everyday human chat as AI.

Why do scores change between tools? Different tools use different lists and thresholds. Our offline tool looks for specific phrases and burstiness. Cloud tools use large language models to check predictability. Sports news like your Man United vs Hull City example will have concrete facts that look human, but also drama phrases like dream return and landmark moment that look like AI. One tool may weigh facts more, another may weigh drama more, so you get 26 percent vs 60 percent vs 85 percent. That is normal. Look at highlights, not just the number.

Does it work for GPT-5, Claude, Gemini? Yes, model agnostic. It looks for shared habits that all large models have, because they train on similar data. So it works for ChatGPT, GPT-5 Astra, Claude 4.5, Gemini, and others. We tested with raw outputs from each and they all score high.

Does it keep my text? No. No outside call, no upload, no storage. Everything runs on your device. When you close the tab, it is gone. You can use it unlimited times. That is why we say private, unlimited, secure.

Can I use it on Website for free? Yes. Paste the single file into an HTML gadget. It works on mobile and desktop. No key needed. I use it on my own Website sites.

How do I make my text sound more human quickly? Delete moreover, furthermore, additionally, in conclusion, this matters. Add contractions. Add a short sentence. Add a question like you know what I mean? Add I or we experience. Add specific numbers, dates, place names. Break rule of three lists. That usually drops 20 to 30 percent.

What is the word limit? Up to 10000 words. The counter at the bottom shows where you are. If you go over, split into two parts.
